Research Areas

  • My research focuses on developing learning algorithms for computer vision that leverages weakly labeled data. Such weakly labeled data are ubiquitous on web and therefore allows us to train deep neural networks for higher order visual tasks without the high cost of annotating the dataset.   • I am also interested in probabilistic machine learning, uncertainty quantification and their applications in learning from limited data. I also mantain an avid interest in discrete and combinatorial optimization.
  • I have worked on several NLP projects for the enterprise. These include building question answering and similarity search engine based on vector database, large language models, and knowledge graphs, natural language interface for graph databases, lexical substitution engine, and chatbots.

    • Worked on building a custom chatbot solution and lexical substitution system for query augmentation.

    Center for Visual Information Technology - IIIT Hyderabad
    • Project: Recovery of 3D Structure based on Point Correspondences
    • Advisor: Prof. Anoop M. Namboodiri
    • The aim of the project was to create a 3D model generation pipeline from a collection of digital images using Structure From Motion techniques.
    • This pipeline makes use of algorithm such as SIFT image feature descriptors, feature matching, bundle adjustment, multi-view stereo, Poisson's surface reconstruction, and Vertex Attribute Transfer to reconstruct 3D models while optimizing them for GPU computation.
    • The Project is made available publicly as a web service as a part of a Digital Monument Archive initiative at IIIT Hyderabad.

    • The aim of the project was to develop a software that interacted with computer using hand gestures for interactive signboards.

    • Won 3rd prize (among 84 teams from across India) in Microsoft Garage Hackathon, 2017 for our project Daredevil - which brings human echolocation to the masses using a smartphone camera.
